FLEXION
Flexion: A turning point from a straight line or course; A point where radical change in one’s life direction occurs, be it emotional, physical, mental. What causes these junctures? The Gods? Fate? A dream? In Flexion, change is reflected physically, pointing the way to a kinesthetic perception; an open door to that which lays dormant in our society. The sense that outside of our normal ways of knowing and consuming there lies a more direct way of perceiving; illusive as it may be it resides in our play and imagination and asks us to be open to a larger more inclusive way of being. Originally commissioned by the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts, Flexion premiered at the Carnival Center in January of 2007 as the inaugural performance of their outdoor programming. Flexion costumes were designed by Haydee Morales, Choreography by Ray Sullivan, Light and Set Design by Fernando Calzadilla, Originally produced by Adrianna Perez of the Carnival Center.
