Why circus? Because it is irresistible; it speaks to the senses and becomes the substance of dreams. Magnificent, beautiful, funny and frightening, circus is a popular folk art which is going through a revival in the US and has deep roots in New Mexico's "Carpista" traditions of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is an excellent medium for spreading social change because it comes in through the side door, speaking the universal language of laughter and wonder while stirring our thoughts with new perspectives. It forces us to confront our basic fears—of falling, of being laughed at, of who we are and who we might become if the normal fetters of society were removed from us. At the same time It reminds us of our common bonds as people. Circus comes from the human spirit rather than intellect, thus bypasses closed minds and enters through opening hearts. Circus fights back against the slick and perfect digital Hollywood world of entertainment by offering something human, a little torn at the knee, handmade and reachable.

Wise Fool has a long history of creating circus performances and teaching selected circus arts. The primary mediums we work in are: stilting, fire clowning and aerial arts. Wise Fool produced two fire Circuses in San Francisco, two Revolutionary Circus tours to Chiapas Mexico: Fools without Borders, and participated in an all women's community circus in Santa Fe NM, One Railroad Circus!

Wise Fool has extensive experience performing on stilts, playing with fire and flying through the air at many events around the country with aerial company Sorelle Sora . Besides teaching workshops in stilt walking and giant puppets Wise Fool collaborated with other circus artists to lead Kids Circus workshops ending with a great kids circus show in Santa Fe, New Mexico!
